People in power rarely confer rights to others without significant pressure.   We must claim our rights through organized movements and hard-won struggles.   Ensuring that universal human rights standards become the norm in the United States is up to us.   Please join the human rights movement and demand that our elected officials and policy-makers live up to these human rights standards that guarantee lives of dignity for all human beings.  

1.  Urge the Speaker to set a date for a hearing on HR GOAL!

Please sign and send a letter in support of Human Rights GOAL (Intro 731)  to the Speaker Christine Quinn and encourage others to do so.  Visit this link to view and print the letter.  You can also fax the letter to the Speaker's District Office (212-564-7347).  We need your help in pushing the Speaker to confirm a date for a September hearing on Human Rights GOAL in the Civil Rights Committee.  We have already waited too long!

2.  Join our new NYCHRI subcommittee!***

Members who join the mobilizing committee will strengthen the coalition's mission by engaging with grassroots and community-based organizations. 

 

3.  Be part of the Speakers Bureau!***

Participants in the Speakers Bureau will be able to develop their knowledge about Human Rights GOAL (Intro 731) and the use of international human rights treaties in advancing social justice in their communities and organizations.

4.  Contact your City Council Member to express your support for Human Rights GOAL (Intro 731)!
